When you experience the typical symptoms of a hangover, the primary problem is actually dehydration. Alcohol washes fluids and thus minerals out of the body, which is why your body will most probably be quite dehydrated after a long night of drinking. This loss of fluids disrupts electrolyte levels, which can then lead to typical hangover symptoms such as headaches, nausea and raging thirst. ⁣⁠

Magnesium and Vitamin C actually play a big role in supporting the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme that breaks down alcohol and eliminates it from the body. Furthermore, Magnesium relaxes the head and neck muscle tension that make a hangover worse.⁣⁠
